DVD Regions

·

I don’t know why this din’t occur to me earlier: While DVD Regions (and players that obey them) are a pain to deal with, there’s actually no law in the world1 that forbids me to buy two or three DVD players, each running under it’s specific region code.

With prices less than 50$, this is still a considerable amount of money, I agree, but hey, it buys you the legal right to watch almost whatever DVD you wish!

And all the blood and sweat that went into the DVD region and CSS2 spec has been spent for … nothin’. :)

  1. Well, at least none that I’m aware of. ↩︎

  2. The cryptographic algroithm used to encrypt DVDs, of course ;) ↩︎
