Power!
Power: I currently work on some PDFs on my 867MHz G4 PB. Each PDF weighs around 15MB and contains millions of graphics primitives. It’s quite a huge load for “Preview” that is supposed to open, rotate and save these PDFs.
I have iTunes jolly decoding and playing MP3’s, I surf the web, read my mail and experience sometimes a slowdown in PulpFiction – well, that’s not due to my PDF tasks, I guess ;)
I do almost the same on the same on my 1.2GHz Athlon PC (W2K). Except that I can’t work on it anymore.
Update: For the sake of completeness, there’s obviously another approach to the problem I had:
convert big.pdf medium.jpg
… long live ImageMagick!
