[Daniel Wilson][] had an article some time ago that presented some mock-ups for better [UI notifications][] under Mac OS X that actually made sense.
Via [codepoetry][], I found [LanOSD][], a tool that lets you create bezels as imagined by Daniel. The only thing that’s lacking now, is some kind of feedback link—and the possibility
to attach some actions to the “buttons” and such.
I think that an “OSD” based system would make sense for quite a bit of applications, especially for all these gadgets that sit in the menu-bar and eventually display some notification every here and then:
* Mail notifications (Think GMail)
* System events
* iChat events
* Calendaring stuff (”Get out!”)
* …
And more ideas for fancy notifications?
